Our Community Alcohol Detox (CAD) Programme is designed to help those experiencing difficulties with their alcohol use by facilitating a much-needed service to undertake a community alcohol detox with structured support in your own home.
About the Programme
Over the next two years, Community Response Ltd will be working across four local drug Task Force areas Ballyfermot, Dublin 12, the Canal Communities, and the South Inner City of Dublin and with local services to develop and pilot a community alcohol detox service.
We want to help those experiencing difficulties with their alcohol use by facilitating a much-needed service to undertake a community alcohol detox with structured support. We want to offer those trying to manage alcohol dependence an opportunity to detox where they live with family, friends, and engage keyworkers for support.
Individuals, in most cases, would not need to go into a residential treatment center but would be able to access a GP/ Primary Care provider and avail of community supports. Information, medical care, and guidance will be provided by an experienced team at every stage of the journey to help ensure safety and success.
At the heart of this new community alcohol detox is your opinions, the opinions of those who will use this service in the future. Developing a detox program that works for and with the people who need it is our main priority. With that in mind we ask for 5-10 minutes of your time to complete our short survey to esnure this service represents your thoughts and needs.

For Professionals and Services......
The Strategic Initiative aims to achieve a community-based response to alcohol misuse through a community alcohol detox. The project aims to respond to the local needs of people in the four Task Force areas and provide a model of best practice which is aligned to the principles of Sláintecare, the goals of ‘Reducing Harm Supporting Recovery' and the National Drug Rehabilitation Framework. The Community Alcohol Detox framework will strengthen the existing response to people seeking to address their alcohol use within a community setting and to embed best practice within services at a local level and work collaboratively across the four Task Forces.
